Spent a lot of the summer trying to discover the parents of Israel Lee Schoonover who was born in Westtown, Town of Minisink, Orange Co., NY in July 1803. If anyone has genealogy on the Schoonovers [van Schoonhoven] I would be interested in getting a copy.

I am also looking for the parents of Israel Lee Schoonover. There is a Samuel Schonover buried in Mount Salem Baptist church cemetery. Israel Lee S. also spelled his name with one "o" at that time, about 1840+ and attended that church. James Elston in his work states that the wife of Samuel was Phoebe Cole who lived in Westtown where Israel lee was born, but there is no proof of that and she is not burried with Samuel. Catherine and Clarissa are buried there.They may be Samuel's daughters and or Israel Lee's mother assuming Samuel was the Grandfather and not the father.

My family is trying to retrace our roots. My great grandfather came from Tchortoria, Volhynia, Russia in 1914. Unfortunately, the family name got lost in the immigration. My great great grandfather had the last name of Artzab. My great grandfather and grandfather had the last name of Arzab. My great grandmother (maiden name Yarosky), great uncle and great aunt had the last name of Artsob. If anyone has any information that would be of help, please let me know, as the last names aren't that common, although I notice when I search Artzab I find some links to pages that are in Russian. I might be the only true "out-of-towner" to sign the guest book. I'm from Ft.Worth, TX, but have family in the panhandle of Oklahoma (about 55 miles east of Folsom). We "discovered" Folsom Falls and Folsom Museum one afternoon on our way from Oklahoma to Eagle Nest, NM. I fell in love with the area immediately! I've visited it once since that first time, and now I'd like to plan an entire vacation around the area. (It's always been a mere "diversion" before.) I might even move to a nearby larger town if I can find a reasonable way to avoid becoming one of those people who "starves and moves back to the city", as your web site mentions! :-)

My wife and I just returned form vacation in New Mexico, Cimerron Canyon, and drove back to Oklahoma through Capulin and Folsom and through the Dry Cimerron Scenic Byway. This is the second time we have been through. The first time our kids were little and we missed alot. This time it was just the wife, dog and me. We loved it and plan to return. I will retire in about four years and I would love to live in the area. Beautiful place! Your Web Site is great alot of information well presented.

I am not sure you will get this...since I am not sure what I am doing here...I saw this and decided to reply.

Yes my last name is Schoonover...this is my husbands families name.
His fathers name is or was Jack Floyd Schoonover he came to LA when he was
about 12 and died about two year ago...at the age of 82.

My husbands name is Kenneth Arvin Schoonover and he grew up in Garden Grove, Orange County, California.

I love getting your newsletter. I've visited Folsom many times. I am a good friend of Willard Louden and visit him in Branson when I can. I live in Tucson, AZ now, but was born and raised in Trinidad. My "cantankerous" Dad ran a machine shop there :). My heart is still in Colorado, but I'll let it drift into northern NM with no problem.

My father's name was Loren Aaron Schoonover. He was the eldest son of John and Erma Schoonover of Neodesha, Kansas. He was born on November 16, 1931. He was the 4th of 11 children born to that union. Only one of the boys, Duane, is still living. Six of the girls survive and most still live in southeastern Kansas.
