Trinidad, Colorado - A Historic Building SurveyToltec Hotel BuildingMap location #31. The Toltec Hotel in the 100 block of North Commercial is an excellent example of a Victorian adaptation of the Tudor style. The earliest date concerning the lot is 1878 when the site was sold at a sheriff's sale to the First National Bank by R. L. Wooton, Jr., who happened to be sheriff at that time. In 1883 J. 0. Packer acquired the lot from the city of Trinidad, and he was the owner when the Hotel was built in 1910-1911. The F. E. Edbrooke Architectural Company, which also built the Tabor Opera House Block in Denver, superintended the construction. The first photograph shows North Commercial Street in the first half of the 1880's. The second photograph is dated August, 1970. Legal Description: North 60 feet of Lot 6; Lot 7; Lot 8; Block 115 OTS.
